Radio modules

Radio modules for every frequency and network

Radio modules for cellular „licensed networks

Cellular modules are currently divided into 2G (GSM/GPRS), 3G (UMTS), 4G (LTE) and 5G (New Radio, NR). NB-IoT and LTE-M are LPWAN technologies introduced under 4G and migrated to 5G. 5G is an umbrella of many different 5G technologies. NB-IoT and LTE-M belong to mMTC (Massive machine type communications) within 5G. There is also 5G eMBB (enhanced mobile broadband) and 5G uRLLC (Ultra Reliable and Low Latency Communications). Crout offers you the radio modules, antennas, SIM cards with the necessary consulting on the choice of components, SIM cards and protocols.

Radio modules for “licence-free” networks

Radio modules in licence-free bands cover various needs that cannot be met with cellular radio technologies. The diagram shows LPWAN technologies in the licence-free band (LoRaWAN, MIOTY) in parallel to NB-IoT and LTE-M in the licence-required band. Most LPWAN technologies have in common that they build star networks and prefer the frequency range below 1 GHz (Sub-GHz). Low frequencies have a higher range and better penetration of walls. NeoMesh is a third-generation mesh-net technology and operates at Sub-GHz and 2400 MHz.

At 2400 MHz we then find Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and other wireless technologies. Many of our radio modules work hybrid and combine licence-free and licence-required technologies already in the module. Often the IoT developer has to design his application hybrid and combine radio modules. Crout offers the appropriate radio modules and provides consulting on the selection, the combination of radio technologies, the necessary antennas and the appropriate protocols.
